I am a Turkish Linguist with over 10 years of experience in foreign language instruction, curriculum development, testing, translation and interpreting.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Turkish Language and Literature from Gazi Üniversitesi, Ankara, Turkey. After attending graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to study at the Department of Languages and Cultures of Asia, I went on to receive a Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate at Georgetown University.
After teaching Turkish at several universities in the United States and managing language programs, I served as an Expert Linguist on numerous American government and military projects. My job mainly involved teaching Turkish to American diplomats and bureaucrats.
I worked as a Turkish Language and Culture Instructor at the United States Department of State Foreign Service Institute (FSI) and received the Excellence in Teaching award for using effective techniques to teach Turkish to absolute beginners.
With each new student and project, I realize that language learning has something to do with your emotions as well as your mind. My goal is to find ways to make learning Turkish fun and memorable for each student. I want every student to realize what they can achieve if they have the right tools and a teacher who is cheering for their success.
